TINATIN EGIASHVILI
BIO
Tinatin Egiashvili
Industrial & Furniture Designer
From Tbilisi, Georgia
Based in New York
My multidisciplinary design practice bridges contemporary design, material exploration, and environmental responsibility. What draws me most to design is its physicality—the tactile process of making and the relationships we form with objects.
Becoming a mother has further enriched my perspective, reshaping how I balance identity and creativity while continuing to explore design as a space for dialogue between life, materials, and the objects we shape.

Re-pot your plants
the natural way
2025
Seasonal change brings beauty to the city, yet it also creates an environmental challenge: organic debris that clogs drains, blocks sidewalks, and is often treated as waste.
By collecting this overlooked material from the urban environment, I experiment with material processes to transform the city’s biological byproducts into environmentally responsive re-pottery cups. Designed to reduce plastic use, they operate within a circular system, sourced from the ground, shaped into functional objects, and ultimately returned to the soil when the plant is re-potted.
2. Exploring Reed
Phragmites Australis
Iterations
2026
Reeds are a locally abundant invasive plant that disrupts native ecosystems and biodiversity. I became interested in reeds not only because of their environmental impact, but also because of their overlooked history and largely unexplored potential as a contemporary material.
Working with reeds allows me to engage directly with a material that is rooted in a specific places locally in NYC. I’m interested in how local materials can be investigated, transformed, and reimagined through making, while also reflecting on their ecological significance.
3. Traces of a Sketchbook
Color, Fragments and Forms
2025
Working in my sketchbook has been a quiet, meditative time for me- a way to relax my mind while exploring abstract colors, patterns, and compositions. I experimented with creating gradients and collages using hole-punched pieces.

Project with Madam Bozarjiants
2023
Showcased an installation that explores the natural light falling from the skylight of a historical building owned by Bozarjiants family. The house was built in the early 20th century in the Art Nouveau style. However, during the Soviet repression, it was taken away from the owners and transformed into a communal living space.
5. Museum MerchSouvenir Proposal for
Museum of the City of New York’s Shop
2025
This project reinterprets New York City’s urban icons and the landscape through a candle holder paired with a handmade candle. Each piece is crafted from slate. The candle holder functions as a pin, marking the location of the museum.

Notes on the Products
Upcycled “Jorko”
Sustainable
2023
Crafted in Georgia, our products are born from domestically sourced oak wood. I prioritize an environmentally conscious approach, sourcing wood exclusively from sustainable origins. My commitment extends to utilizing timber from trees naturally fallen in local forests, and from demolished traditional Georgian wooden houses. This dedication ensures not just quality but a profound respect for the environment, reflecting our ethos of responsible material use and preservation.

Personal Reflection on Motherhood and Design

8. “Light-Fold”
Project proposal for
Ro Plastic Prize
2024
There is no such thing as waste. It's better to recreate with plastic rather than create it. Recycling should become a crucial part of our lifestyle. In order to have an impact on the culture of recycling we should care more, get involved and take a step towards the change.

12. Hand Held Object
Exploring the balance of weight
& tactile experience
2025
Handheld object is designed to be inviting and comfortable to hold. Its weight naturally follows gravity, allowing it to rest in your hand while providing a satisfying sense of heaviness. The handle is ergonomically crafted to ensure a secure holding, preventing the object from slipping and keeping it attached to your wrist with stability.
